Turn + Face the Strange! Ch-Ch-Changes for 2021!
KMSU’s annual 12-hour TMBG by-global-request marathon known as They Might Be Playing They Might Be Giants is back for its EIGHTH YEAR on November 19th, 2021… but with a big change you need to know, along with the return of some golden oldies and some all-new cool stuff.
BIG CHANGE
REQUESTS! Are you sitting down? Here’s the scoop: We will not be taking requests in advance this year — they’ll be accepted ONLY DURING THE MARATHON and VIA THE TEXTING MACHINE.
There are 2 big reasons for this: 1) We want to play songs for folks who we know are actually listening! It’s not really fair for us to play something requested a month ago by Goofus who’s sleeping, while Gallant’s up early & tuned in but whose request is hundreds of songs deep in the queue. And 2) It just works better this way for Shelley, who runs the boards all 12 hours. Anything that makes her life easier benefits us all. :)
On the day of the marathon we will constantly remind you of KMSU’s texting number, so don’t worry about that. Honestly, we still expect to get way more requests than we’ll have time to play — it’s amazing how fast 12 hours pass! — but this should help improve the odds that you’ll actually get to hear YOUR request.
GOLDEN OLDIES
QUESTIONS! Although they’re under no obligation to do so, Flans and Linnell are often kind enough to call in to chat during They Might Might Be Playing They Might Be Giants… and answer your questions! Please submit your questions at tmbg.love/questions and if the opportunity arises, we’ll ask it!
STORIES! We love hearing everyone’s stories each year — They Might Be Giants has impacted our lives in so many ways. Whether it’s funny, inspirational, emotional, silly… whatever it may be, if there’s something you’d like to share with TMBG’s amazing global fanbase, submit it at tmbg.love/stories!
COLORING CONTEST! TMBG fans tend to be pretty artistic folk, and we love when you share your creativity… of course, there are prizes involved. The 2021 contest isn’t ready yet, but for now you can check out last year’s submissions and results at tmbg.love/contest.

MERCH! You knew it was only a matter of time, right? Sales from this exclusive TMBPTMBG / TMBG.LOVE merch will help cover the costs of running our website, mailing prizes, and related whatnot.
